Do you know what stops good marketing happening? Thinking it needs to be perfect.

Marketing is never ideal. Ever. 

Marketing is the business art of effectively communicating with your audiences and you know what? PEOPLE ARE TRICKY!!!

We change our minds. Marketing we liked last week, we don’t this week, but we might again next week. Stuff happens so that thing you offer that we really wanted to buy and need, we put off getting it because [insert reason – possibly logical, probably emotional].

But this is what makes marketing fun! People!

People being a bit unpredictable, a bit flighty, and doing things in their own sweet time -yes, not ours! We want them to respond to our marketing NOW! IMMEDIATELY! But oh no, they are on their own journey and will go at their pace. 

So, what does that mean our marketing job is?

It means we have to:

  •  Lay the path out for our ideal customers to travel along – and accept they’ll go at their pace.
  • Cast aside ‘perfect’ marketing and go for progress – launch that marketing campaign, see what happens, analyse the results.
  • Even if it flops, you’ll learn. (I don’t wish to boast, but so far we’ve run two marketing campaigns this year that NONE OF YOU CARED ABOUT!! 😂).
  • Try, learn, improve, try, learn, improve. 

Make marketing progress not perfection your key marketing mindset for the next quarter.
